Reassure Parents with the "In Safe Hands" Award
Become a recognised centre and show parents that you prioritise the welfare of the children in your care. Offer them peace of mind by joining and displaying the "In Safe Hands" logo and wall plaque to promote your accreditation.
The “In Safe Hands” Award confirms that your nursery or pre-school has met the following standards:
- All staff working directly with children hold a valid Paediatric First Aid (12-hour) certificate, ensuring that required staffing ratios are fully met at all times.
This reflects changes introduced in the Department for Education Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Guidance (2025). Previously, the requirement stated that at least 35% of staff were trained in Paediatric First Aid (12 hours) and at least 35% in Emergency Paediatric First Aid (6 hours), with childminders and their assistants required to hold the 12-hour qualification.
Under the 2025 update, this requirement has been strengthened so that 100% of staff working with children must now hold the full 12-hour Paediatric First Aid qualification, particularly in relation to staffing ratios and supervision during key periods such as meal times.
This award highlights your commitment to high safety standards, reassuring parents that their children are in safe and capable hands.
